Had the door latch recall & coolant sensor recall squared away. Only took two days...

All they did with the coolant sensor was pressure test it for 20 seconds and it checked out just fine with no leaks. I was told before I left by the service advisor that they just got information about some fleet-wide cooling recall and it was a good idea that I had this done when I did. I don't believe 90% of what I hear at a dealership anyways but I guess we'll see.

Also, while they had the doors off replacing the latches I had them check out why adhesive was all over my passenger side window and the window was slow as balls to go operate. Turns out the weather stripping came apart which I should have known due to ice on the inside of my windshield recently just like in my Miatas. Definitely getting that done before winter sets in which will require not having my car on my day off, again, and $80 to boot.

Fun.

Now searching for a winter set up. Heavily debating 205/50/16 vs 185/55/15. Need new wheels/steelies with either option.

Finally got around to doing a polish/wax on my 2014 Molten Orange. Its been 2 WI winters since this car has seen any sort of heavy detailing! This is my first time ever using a Polisher
I did:
  • Foam Bath
  • 2 Bucket Wash with Meguiars Gold Class
  • Clay Bar
  • Final 2 bucket Wash
  • Harbor Freight DA + White LC CCS Pad and Meguiars M205 setting 6 (2 applications)
  • Red Griots Waxing Pad + Collinite 845 (2 applications)

probably 75% of the swirls are gone. All of the hazing is gone, there are some deeper swirls/scratches that M205 didn't touch. I am going to try the M205 + Orange CCS pad next time, or maybe even go the M105 route. Overall I am happy with the results, both the M205 and 845 are pretty easy products to work with IMO.

Looks good. I usually go with the m105, followed by the 205 and with my Da's and it turns out mirror finish. Of course is there's any deep scratches then sone wet sanding may have to come into play. Your car looks really clean, very good job!

Thanks a bunch! I was surprised at how good the paint looked despite seeing 2 winters in WI without a major detail.

Which pads do you use with M105? I went ahead and ordered more M205 and also M105 as well. I've heard some people have good success with M205 and a cutting pad...I'll probably try that in the early spring when I do another polish/wax.

I generally have found good luck with Dynabrade, McGuiars, and Rupes pads. Theyre all very good for the money. If you have free time, i suggest looking up AMMO NYC on YouTube. He's helped me so much throughout the years and has tons of experience. Also sorry for the late reply, fell asleep early.

When you say, "2 Wisconsin winters without a major detail", does this mean still very frequent waxing with the 845, just no polishing, compounding, or 'paint corrections', or does it mean just washing? [dunno]

When I lived in WI I usually just washed by hand using the Optimum No Rinse product once every couple of months. I never waxed it at all. I neglected it in the winter and I admittedly used a few more touchless washes than I care to admit lol

Considering that, the car looks GREAT right now, as it sits, and like you said, a little more work and it can be near perfection. ;) [thumb] [cool]

Escort mounted in the rear view. Cold rainy October night.
Is this just a suction cup mount or a rear view mirror mount? I'm still just using what came with my Escort Passport but would love to move it higher up one day.

It's the Escort Sticky Cup Windshield Mount. Think it was around $22 off Amazon. Mounted just below the rear view mirror mount.

Put the winter wheels on to check for rubbing with the Mountune springs. 195/60r15 and somehow no rubbing that I could tell. Seems strange because it looks super tight. Might run if I add passengers, but nothing so far.

I just experienced the heater blend door actuator failure. Man it is louder than I expected. Sounds luke someone banging on tbe windshield with a rock! Going to the dealer on Monday. Tried to verify that they had the party first but they said they have to see what is wrong first. Wouldn't believe that I knew exactly whay was wrong. I Ann betting they have the party donde it is used on multiple models and is a high failure rate part.

I installed the ambient light bar above the glovebox on my 2017, since Ford in its infinite wisdom chose to delete it.

it really is loud isn't it... the dealer did the same thing to me, didn't believe me when I said that's what was wrong, "well, well, well, uh, uh, uh we are the experts let us decide whats wrong and which actuator it is" then they had it for 3 days without a phone call or anything to let me know whats going on. I called several times "let me check with the tech and well call you back" well they didn't, but oh well its fixed now

Was it covered under warranty?
