It seems the Sport Tune team gets a lot of leeway to do what they want I guess. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Wouldn't surprise me if the Explorer ST and other ST vehicles are the same way. They included the specialized parts in the cost of the vehicle. I also see different part numbers on what are visually the same part that are shared between vehicles. Many of the part number changes I suspect are just supplier-related and occur over time. Most recent example I've bumped into...

It undersold both in volume and then price due to an almost complete absence of investment in marketing. The dealers here were actively steering folks away from them.
Yeah, a while back I wanted to change my interior to red instead of that weird green color on some of the buttons. The green is specific to the ST, and I figured since the start/stop button was plug and play, the rest would be as well. Nope. The pins, PCBs, or both are different on every single version of, for example, the dimmer switch - the S, SE, ST, and Titanium all got different versions, so does the sedan and the hatch, and then the European cars have a totally different dashboard. Same with the headlight switch and the HVAC controls. Just stupid.

It was last night, but I finally got some new TPMS sensors to be learned by the car. This saga goes back to almost a year ago when I got a set of brand new RPF1's from a forum member, then a set of pre-price increase Continental ECS02's with discount from Tire Rack, rebates from Continental and their credit card, and Capital One Savings money back. Then I went to get a new set of TPMS sensors. I've always used Motorcraft sensors but I couldn't find them any cheaper than $42 apiece this time around. Rockauto had some Continental/VDO sensors that were metal stems and only $18 apiece. Rockauto's page said they would have to be learned through the standard manufacturer's process so I thought they would work just like the Motorcraft ones. Wrong.

I didn't mount the tires until this spring since I wanted to finish last summer with the old set of tires. When I did, I couldn't get the car to learn the sensors with the little $12 Motorcraft tool. So I went looking and found that these sensors required the use of a different tool to activate. And the list of tools was expensive tools, many of which do all kinds of things I don't need to do. And the manufacturer of the sensor (Redi-Sensor) says that unless the tool is on their list it won't work. And cheap Harbor Freight TPMS tools were not on the list. The lowest-priced tool on the list is the ATEQ VT37. But when I went to order one, they were unavailable anywhere--backordered. Finally was able to get one about 2-3 weeks ago. Updated it online and went to learn the sensors--no sensor found. Tried unlocking the snesors, none found. After several phone calls with Redi-Sensor support, they had me try unlocking the sensors but telling the tool that it was a 2022 Toyota Prius, then if successful go back and unlock them as a 2019 Fiesta. That worked last night and then the relearning procedure went lickety-split.

I guess now that I own the tool I can buy the cheaper TPMS sensors in the future--as long as they don't require the $69 subscription fee to get updates.....
