So yesterday was March 17th and it was St Patties Day here in the States not sure if it was that all over but it was March 17th everywhere so it works.. I decided to take my FiST for a Dirve past Chicago and over to the MotorCity Detroit Michigan for some serious parts and TLC ot TLT (tender loving tuning). The day started in the Dark and ended in the dark as it was a 9 hr road (with gas stops and food) plus the good old BS time spent in Mi. talking with Russ from DHM great Guy and very welcoming household to btw i saw the pet turtle wink at me.. So I had the Ipod hooked up for the 18 hr plus drive time and hit Detroit right around 5 pm lots of fun times in traffic good thing I was a full size truck with a Blue FiST in tow.. Funny watching folks pass me on the hiway and roll past then roll back eyeball the car and move on (had one SRT give it a good look then blast away). Like I said I had to stop and fuel the truck and myself with good quality roadie food .. lol hey it was quick and at that point I still was only halfway there .. All in All a good time though it got a wee bit long near the end .. More to come as we find the limits of this build at DHM..

Here is a quick update from Russ at DHM while tuning the car for drivabilty on the street nice and easy lo to no boost tuning right now I am told he has over 200 miles on the car and NEW Spec Flywheel and Clutch with NO NADA NONE, CEL for the misfire relearn which is nice to know that it may not be a issue for those that want to upgrade there flywheel. So far so good no need to have to take it to a dealer to have it relearn.. Plus He says it is playing very well engine wise.. new IC going in the end of this week we hope and Turbosmart BOV and Wastegate controller should be in and ready to tune at that point.. I'll post more as I hear or maybe Russ will post up as he goes too ;) But he may be too busy with stuff .. lol

I think your gonna need the wmi personally. Not so much for knock, but for fuel. AEM IS DEF #1 on my list for wmi.

Ya there are things in the works looking at the fueling process but nothing solid yet. I like the WMI as a way of washing my intake valves personally well and the cool effect.. ;)

With Rods car it will be a big deal for knock. We are not running any ethanol mixes due to high HP and running out of fuel. So on 91/93 oct it will help knock protection a lot.

Meth does both :) win win.
I'd say 100% meth is good for 4% more power than water/meth. 4% ant no joke on a 1.6L lol

but 50/50 meth water mix has a better cooling effect. Peron want me to try running 100% meth but not keen as its just to much of a fire risk for me. the sitech development car over here which was running high amounts of meth came to a sad ending a few weeks ago. I am not ready for that extra risk.

Gotta love fast map switching now I guess lol
any advantage to this from VP
M3™
Like M1, M3 starts with methanol of the highest purity, but includes lubrication and combustion additives for an extra boost. M3 offers a wider range of jetting options, making jetting easier and more consistent. With better tuning and cleaner, more efficient combustion, M3 makes more power and yields better throttle response than any standard methanol on the market. M3's improved combustion also reduces the noxious fumes associated with methanol fuels, so it's much easier on the eyes and nose. For 60-70% of methanol applications, M3 won't require jetting or timing changes - just pour it in and get an immediate performance improvement in all areas. In the other 30-40%, M3's added vaporization may actually hurt volumetric efficiency and performance, which is what lead to the development of M5. M3 is not pure

Tank options, ideas.

1) use the windshield washer tank, just tap into it, easy to do, no added space needed...con is that it is forward mounted weight as is the pump if in the front of the car....

2) use the supplied tank, mount it and the pump in the rear of the car, a bit more wiring and tubing but not much weight, room for a bigger tank if needed.

3) what I have considered, rear tank used for WMI and windshield washer tank.

Idea:

1) use rear tank with just the WMI pump, tap the line and install an electric valve to open when you use the windshield washers, just do it when not in boost.

This would save a bit of wiring and possibly plumbing and eliminate the need to mount a washer pump in the WMI tank.

It might not be OK to run full Meth in the system.

2) It could be used with just winter formula washer fluid when you do not need full or 50% meth, cannot get it easily, etc, just have a tune for it.

3) I have ran WMI full time on a street car and it was a royal pain in the arse to obtain Meth and have enough on hand for any sort of a road trip, etc....being able to just use 50 or 100% for the track and washer fluid the rest of the time seems a workable solution.

-----------------------

It is likely I will need a kit, just found one on Amazon Prime for $395 shipped, same kit listed here.
I just want to work out the least complicated, lightest weight, best located weight setup I can do and meet my needs.

Thoughts?

I will let Russ answer the install questions but Since we are using the 2J intake I was thinking the small supplied tank could be fitted where the stock Air box was and keep all lines short and tidy, But like I said I have not looked at it. And Russ is a AEM certifed tuner/installer or something less exotic He knows his way around this brand and equipment.

When running 100%meth you need to make sure you are close to the throttle body and not to big of a jet. What can happen is to much or in a spot that relys on air pulling can cause a puddle. Then any back fire and boom fire. Same reason I won't run gas or e85 in a normal meth system of it puddles it does not evaporate fast like meth and can be a fire hazard.

the windshield bottle is just not big enough. I mounted mine to some plywood bonded to the rear wheel arch then put the carpet back in, its a nice place as a glance over the shoulder can tell the fluid level as I have no rear seats.

Sad indeed to see that car burned down:(:(

Looks like 50/50 or even less Meth is the only safe way to go!

Washer tank is small, having room for the tank where the air box was, moved back all the way, would allow a bigger tank as well....not a bad spot. Also using the smaller tank one could carry some extra in the hatch, mixed of course, I would want to ensure it is fire safe, not just better.........

If I do this I will go for a hatch tank and use it for the window washers, since I am retired I can take the time to DIY whatever I need so that helps a great deal.
